Thank you so much!

It was done as a challenge. We had to use an ordinary subject against a extraordinary background...
It came out good.

Thank you so much!

I love watercolor...

It's a hard medium but once you finally catch on it's more of an adventure than regular painting...

I love water colors. its my favorite traditional medium aside from pencil sketching. I love how you can explore so many dimensions with it, and the fine details you can claim from it...I know what you mean with the adventure ^_^

You are my friend for life !!!

One thing I don't understand is the change in color... The watercolor is so overall yellowish... The real one is much brighter, with pure whites.

I shudder at what a print from DA would be like!

I find that can be a by-product of your white-balance on the camera/scanner you use...but I actually quite like the yellow!!! I think its a beautiful contrast to the cool of the snow! (at least I think its snow o.O) It reminds me of a sunrise in the winter mornings where I live :)

Good thinking, but it's not the scanner. The digital file I made is practically identical to the real watercolor. Also, I posted it in my Picasa site, and it's fine...

Hmmm I do not know then....I usually end up having to take pictures of my water colors and find the white balance/lighting is always a struggle to get perfect

Me neither... I'll ask them at their next weekly DA posting. Probably something to do with the way they compress and decompress the image...

This is breathtakingly beautiful! What a master of watercolours you are! I'm just touching them for the first time. Fiddled with them a little last week. I'll be off work on thursday eve, and no doubt this coming weekend I'll be trying them again! I only wish I could make something as beautiful as this. Well done, you! The person receiving this card would be so lucky! :w00t:

Thank you! Can't take all the crdit though.
It is a study from the book "Fill Your Watercolors With Light" by Roland ROYCRAFT.

You're taking up watercolor? If you really want to have the time of your life, try to take a class in Watercolor... Just seeing a master at work is thrilling.

I did my Fine Arts, we had only ink, gouache, acrylic and oil in the wet mediums, no watercolor. So afterwards, I took watercolor for a year from an art gallery that had a master in watercolor... And fell in love!

I find ink, acrylic and oil straight forward as mediums... But watercolor is different and an adventure every time!
